Terms & Conditions of Hire

Drivers must be aged between 21 years and 80 years of age.

With not less than 2 full years driving experience.

If you DO NOT have a UK or and EU Licence, or you are over 80 years, you MUST tell us at time of booking.

To make a reservation please contact us to check availability. We then need to collect certain mandatory information and documentation and take a non-refundable deposit to secure your car.

Our non-refundable deposit amount, required to secure your booking, is equivalent to the cost of the first day of any hire period; £65.00 for the first day and £60.00 for any consecutive days hire or part of a consecutive 24 hour period. If you are renting the car for one or more days the deposit is always equivalent to the first days hire.
**Please note: a 'days hire' is charged as any part of a 24 hour period.

The balance is due within 7 days before collection date. If you are reserving a car within seven days of collection, the hire charge is payable in full at time of reservation.

All reservations are Non-Refundable from 7 days prior to your collection date, as per these Terms & Conditions.

No food or drink will be consumed within the vehicle.

No Smoking; The use of cigarettes/cigars/pipes/vapes are prohibited within the vehicle.

Insurance; Including Mandatory Documentation & Information

The cars come with fully comprehensive insurance in the hire cost.

**UK Drivers: At point of collection of your hire car, we require to see/collect the following Mandatory documentation from you;
As well as remembering to have your drivers licence with you for us to see/check, please also provide a copy of it along with a printed copy of your DVLA check code results, which must have been created within 21 days of the start of your hire period. We also require a copy of a utility bill from within the 3 months prior to the start of your hire period. We will also require to see and collect details of a valid credit card for your insurance excess, as per our terms and conditions.

**EU & Non EU Drivers: At point of collection of your hire car, we require to see/collect the following Mandatory documentation from you;
As well as remembering to have your drivers licence with you for us to see/check, please also provide a legible printed copy of your full drivers licence, as well as a legible copy of your passport. We will also require to see and collect details of a valid credit card for your insurance excess, as per our terms and conditions.

We will NOT process your deposit payment or confirm your booking unless we have ALL of the following information;

  • A firm collection date & time
  • A firm return date & time
  • The bookers full name and address
  • The number of people traveling
  • A mobile telephone number to reach you, both during the booking process and throughout the hire period.

On point of processing your balance payment 7 days ahead of your collection date, we require you to provide us with the following documentation;

  • A copy of your Driver’s License for all designated drivers (Max 2)
  • All relevant documentation as detailed above in **Bold

At point of collection of your hire car, we require you to be prepared to provide us with the following documentation to see and check, as well as provide copies for us to retain for insurance purposes;

  • A copy of your Driver’s License for all designated drivers (Max 2)
  • All relevant documentation as detailed above in **Bold

Maximum of two drivers per hire car.

Insurance Excess

We require an authorisation on a credit or debit card to cover the Insurance excess. If the car is damaged during the hire, you the hirer are liable for this excess.

UK and EU licence holders £500.00

Non UK and EU licence holders £1,000.00

Any mechanical faults or damage done to vehicles must be reported to us immediately.

Monies may also be taken from this excess amount to cover any fuel not replaced when returning the car. Damage to wheels and tyres including punctures must be paid for by hirer and monies may for such repairs being required on return of the vehicle may also be taken from this excess amount.

Fuel

Cars are delivered with a full tank of fuel and must be returned refilled.

It is your responsibility to ensure the correct fuel is requested and delivered into the car.

Ferry Travel

CalMac ferry bookings are required on the Oban to Craignure route, even for foot passengers.

**If for any reason you are unable to reach the island after confirming your booking, I am afraid that you would not be entitled to any refund, as any travel arrangements, including ferry travel, are not our liability.

Cancellation

If a car hire reservation is cancelled by you your deposit is non-refundable. If you need to cancel after you have paid the balance, within 7 days of your collection date, or car is returned early, a refund may be made to you if the car can be re hired, otherwise your reservation remains non-refundable as per these Terms & Conditions.

We reserve the right to cancel any hire at any time. A full refund will of course be given if a hire is cancelled by us.

We recommend you take travel insurance to cover any possibility of you needing to cancel.
